The Nicho Series is inspired by objects of prayer and gratitude, ex votos and milagros from Mexico and Latin America. Traditionally Milagros were used as offerings to request help or give thanks for assistance with any number of circumstances, from mending bones to finding lost pets. Frequently they are used in requests for healing. The word "milagro" is Spanish for "miracle". The tin boxes are made in Mexico. Inside this nicho is an eye carved from fallen aspen wood. The piece is delicately painted with acrylic. There's a tiny painting on the outside of the nicho of clouds in a blue sky. The glass door to the box can be opened if desired.
