The Nicho Series is inspired by objects of prayer and gratitude, ex votos and milagros from Mexico and Latin America. Traditionally Milagros were used as offerings to request help or give thanks for assistance with any number of circumstances, from mending bones to finding lost pets. Frequently they are used in requests for healing. The word "milagro" is Spanish for "miracle". The tin boxes are made in Mexico. Inside this nicho is a flaming heart carved from fallen aspen wood with carved flowers blossoming from the fire. The wood is delicately painted with acrylic. There's a tiny painting on the outside of the nicho of stars in a deep blue sky.
